French Pottery Market at Lyon: www.ceramique.com/Tupiniers/
Les Tupiniers
If you are interested in crafts, pottery especially, the second weekend in September is a date to put in your diary. If you need an excuse to visit the fabulous city of Lyon, then this is it.
This is the weekend of 'Les Tupiniers'. This pottery market originally started more than five centuries ago in the same place as it is today with potters from the city. Today, since its revival twenty years ago, 'Les Tupiniers' attracts potters from all over the world, this year even from as far as Australia.
With more than 150 stands, you are guaranteed to find something that you have to have. The choice of objects, techniques and colors really means that you will find more than you can possibly carry home with you and solve all your Christmas present problems for years to come! If, as happened to us this year, you fly into Lyon with severe restrictions on hand luggage on the plane, it will be difficult!
